医学：内毒素：指与某些革兰氏阴性菌(布鲁氏菌，肠杆菌，奈瑟氏菌，弧菌)的外膜有关的耐热毒素。内毒素不属分泌，仅在细胞破裂时释放，它比外毒素的毒力及特异性均小，不形成类毒素。它们由复杂的脂多糖分子组成，其多糖单位(菌体抗原O)与抗原性有关，有几百种变异；磷脂部分(脂质A)为毒性的来源。注射大剂量内毒素可引起出血性休克和严重腹泻；小剂量则引起发热，影响对细菌感染的抵抗力，白细胞减少，继以增多，以及其他很多生物学效应。又称细菌性致热原，另见toxin；
水产：内毒素；由革兰氏阴性菌所合成的一种存在于细菌细胞壁外层、只有在细菌死亡和裂解后才释出的有毒物质。；
