BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The 25th China International Fair for Investment &Trade (CIFIT) is slated to be held from Sept. 8 to 11 in Xiamen, east China’s Fujian Province, the organizer announced Tuesday.
Covering an area of around 120,000 square meters, the four-day event will feature more than 70 investment-themed activities and over 100 roadshows, Vice Commerce Minister Ling Ji told a press conference.
This year’s fair features the United Kingdom as its guest country of honor. So far, delegations from more than 110 countries, regions and international organizations have signed up, with 51 countries and regions to host exhibitions, Ling said.
Against the backdrop of weak global economic momentum, rising trade and investment barriers, and slowing cross-border investment, active participation in this event highlights China’s enduring appeal to foreign investors, he noted.
This year’s CIFIT will also serve as a bridge for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) participating countries and regions, fostering closer ties and promoting practical cooperation, said Wang Jinfu, vice governor of Fujian. To date, 77 BRI participating countries and regions have confirmed their attendance, with more cooperation outcomes to be presented during the fair.
First launched in 1997, the CIFIT, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, has become an important platform for boosting investment and facilitating global development.
