Persistent gun violence has haunted American society in recent days. On June 24, two people were killed and 15 injured after a fight broke out at a large street party in Saginaw, Michigan, resulting in a shooting.

On June 25, at least three people were killed and five others were injured after an early morning shooting in Kansas City, Missouri. In the early hours on the same day, a shooting in southwest Houston, Texas left a teenage girl dead and three other people wounded, and an 18-year-old man was shot and killed on the Lower East Side, New York City.

At least 331 mass shootings have taken place in the U.S. this year and gun violence has caused 21,145 deaths in the country, according to data recorded by the Gun Violence Archive website on June 29.

Frequent shootings have normalized gun violence in the U.S. If not effectively controlled, it will pervade the daily lives of U.S. citizens, causing increased fear and pain.
